We in WMCP share the dread of everyone who is waiting to see if food aid will come tomorrow. The federal administration could pay for it during the shutdown yet chooses not to, and may yet continue to impound court-ordered funding for SNAP. We roundly condemn this unprecedented attack on working and oppressed people.
We also condemn the failure of our state government to appropriate emergency funds to plug the gap. Food bank donations and volunteerism alone can’t substitute for a state response.
With more than $8 billion in the Commonwealth Stabilization Fund, Gov. Healey and our state legislature must be prepared to act quickly to prevent the mass starvation sought by the fascist Trump regime.
Not another moment of hesitation! We call on Gov. Healey and state legislators to commit to funding SNAP with stabilization funding if necessary. This is the rainy day.
